Dancing animals

For this video we were given and editing task using pre recorded footage. I tried to match the music to each shot change to create a smooth flowing video during the city phase. For my dancing animals part I increase the video speed to make it appear more fast flowing and energetic. As for the James bond section I changed the music to a more action themed song in order to intensive the footage. I also played around with some loop effects by copy and pasting footage and then replaying them one after each other.

Advert remake analysis

In preparation fro our fruitella advert remake we tried to assign roles. I was Camera, Luke was editor and Alex and grace took director. However they were soon forgotten during filming and it soon became cluttered and confusing. It slowed production down drastically and has taught us to be more cooperative in the next task.

In preparation we watched the advert through and noted each scene so we knew where to film and for how long. some shots were split up in the advert but shot in the same location so we had to shoot separate scenes in no chronological order and then rearrange them in edit.

When picking our shoot location we had to make sure they had the right lighting, space and similarity to the advert. As we all know the school and shoot location well we easily found the right locations. However due to shooting on school we had to be sure the locations were free and we didn't disrupt any lessons during filming.

As for our piece after editing the cuts and mouthing fitted well with the advert and the scenes were very similar however lighting and costumes were hard to match so with another try we would of liked to of used some artificial lighting and invest more time into props and costumes.

After showing people a common response was positive when talking about timings of the shots and angles however the lighting and costumes were also noticed and needed improving.

After completing the task I can say that roles need to be assigned and stuck to in order avoid people shouting over each other and slowing down production time. I also believe we should shoot each scene multiple times until its right instead of just saying that'll do. In the future I can say we will improve and constantly be learning from mistakes and success's.

Counter stereotypes

Image result for ghostbusters desk man

When the new ghostbusters was released the originally roles were flipped and women played the ghost busters and the desk lady was played by a man. He was portrayed to be very clumsy, gormless and stupid, unlike how men are usually presented in films. It was the same for the women who in the original film was represented by a quite and polite desk lady however now the women were represented by a team of strong and loud team of women. It was an attempt at breaking the stereotypes however the reboot pulled some bad reviews and didn't do as well as hoped at box office potentially suggesting that swapping the gender roles doesn't work as people could struggle to connect with he characters being portrayed in such alien ways.
