Patty Jenkins has adapted the colours of these
two scenes too portray two separate places. The colour grading present in each
of these frames helps create a contrasting mood, time and place. The first
frame is a lot darker and cooler than the second frame and has been made like
this too emphasise the darkness present in what appears to be war. A cool blue
in the frame creates a sad and depressing feel. The second frame has a much
warmer or higher temperature than the first providing a calm and relaxed frame.
The second frame is more saturated than the first scene allowing the colours to
be more influential in creating a warm scene. Patty also uses vignetting in the
second frame to really pull the attention towards the centre of the frame. This
allows Patty to draw the viewers attention where she wants and she can
highlight or emphases a point without the audience even knowing it. In this
case the viewers attention is naturally drawn to the centre statues . In the
first frame there is no vignetting so the viewers attention isn't focused. With no focus the scene can
be chaotic which is Pattys objective as she is trying to emphases the chaos of
the busy train station during war time. I think patty's used these techniques
to really highlight how the human world on the left is so chaotic, depressing,
cold and uncomfortable and the other alien world is controlled, warm and
calming. This creates a contrast that makes wonder women and rare form of
control and warmth when mixed into the never-ending chaos and coldness of war.
It really highlights how she has super powers and truly is a hero.
